Nemunas Valley

Nemunas Valley integrated science, business and study centre is equipped with unique pilot equipment for food industry. It is the first centre of this kind in the Baltic States. In the laboratories of the Valley new foods and their recepies are being created, fundamental research and R&D services are being carried out. The Valley is particularly focusing on research outsourced by business.

In 2010, KTU and Institute of Gardening and Horticulture at Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry established a modern Food Science and Technology Centre. Food Science and Technology Competence Centre (FSTCC) is the first centre of this kind in the Baltic States, equipped with unique pilot equipment for food industry. Combination of state-of-the-art production and analytical equipment enables modelling and optimization of industrial processes in food production and storage, identification and assessment of critical points in processes. New recipes and new products are being born here.

Food Science and Technology Competence Centre specialises in the areas of food quality and safety, sustainable food production and consumption, food chain management.

Areas of activity of the Centre:

  • Professional consulting on technical food production and processing
  • Regular analysis of the EU directives, consulting on their implementation
  • Simulating real-life food production conditions with small amount of raw materials
  • Producing and demonstrating prototypes and examples of new products
  • Providing various trainings on food’s chemical content, production and quality
